| Need some advice here if anybody knows this... So I sold my wife's broken Dodge back in March for $350. I signed the back of the title, and wrote the buyer a receipt. Just recently, the unoccupied Dodge rolled into another car (I'm amazed it's running), and was towed off. The party w/ the damaged car looked up the registration, and it's still titled/registered to my wife. They've since contacted me, and asked for money to cover the damage. I dug around for the buyers contact information, and can't find it. I don't think I have any liability in Texas, as it's not my responsibility to register the title (it's the responsibility of hte buyer). I also have records of when I bought a new car, removed the Dodge, and put the new car on my insurance (all done at the beginning of March). The individual has threatened a civil lawsuit. Does anyone have any experience with this? Word to the wise, moving forward, if you ever sell a car, hold onto that vehicle until the title is transferred. Thoughts???? -Jacob 94TT
